Female Gymnast?

This video appears to be in some random mini-mart, but then the camera person seems to encounter some sort of Olympic gymnast or something. Weird, random video, but appropriate for this site.

Colorectal Cancer Exam (Colonoscopy)

I've decided to add an occassional bit of substantive health/medical info to the fluffier stuff.

Conventional medical wisdom is that everyone over age 50 should have a colorectal exam every ten years.

This is because polyps can be found and removed before they are cancerous, and even if cancerous, the disease is very treatable in its early stages. See, for instance:

Here is an interesting guy who says the dangers of such an exam outweigh the benefits. He also seems to think that fiber is bad for you. Is he just trying to scare you into buying his book?

And now back to the fluff:

Is Yoga Alone Enough to Keep You Fit?

We sent three yogis to the lab to test the theory that yoga is all you need for optimal fitness.

By Alisa Bauman

When it came to the fitness benefits yoga can or can't provide, yoga teacher John Schumacher had heard it all. A student of B. K. S. Iyengar for 20 years and founder of the Unity Woods studios in the Washington, D.C. area, Schumacher was convinced yoga provides a complete fitness regime. But many people, even some of his own students, disagreed. Yoga might be good for flexibility or relaxation, they'd say, but to be truly fit, you had to combine it with an activity like running or weight lifting.

See the rest of the yoga at the link above.

Oh, and check out this crazy yoga practitioner.

Diet Fads?

Are the diets out there foolish, faddish, or are there some good ones?

E.g., http://www.sardinediet.org/

Here's a blog that does some consumer reviews:

Here's an interesting book, seems to be selling very well. I guess it's too hard just to stay out of the fast food restaurant.
